When I go out with binoculars and/or camera, I’m not really looking for farmyard hens or tame geese. However………

………..I was so pleased to find this weekly bird challenge last week that I promised myself that I would post something every week.

No binoculars were needed to spot these birds!

This first picture goes back a few years to a walk in a local park where there is a heronry in the middle of lake. We met this tame goose on the way:

I spotted these hens roaming around the beer garden of our local pub, when we were en route to the canal towpath:

Whilst these egg-layers have all the magnificent scenery of the Lake District to enjoy, they seem more concerned with getting through the gate into the farmyard:

Finally, I can’t resist re-posting this picture of hens pecking on a cottage window on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne to remind their owner to come out with a handful of grain for them:

Helen, those are great! You got a blue-eyed goose too! Those chickens, well they are something else. “Feed me!” The one hen looks like she is ready for Halloween. Black & orange. I’ve never seen one that color before. I love it! 🙂

It was seeing your white goose that reminded me I had one too from years ago! Then I remembered I had a couple of pictures on my phone of hens. I’m loving this challenge.

That makes me happy! I’ve never seen a blue eyed goose since then. Makes my heart happy that you are enjoying this challenge. I love doing it! 🙂
