I’m just back today from week in Malta where we spent a lot of our time in the capital city Valletta.
Valletta is a paradise for lovers of doors. I have just downloaded around 1400 images from my memory cards and, hey, about a third of them are of doors, sometimes with the addition of balconies and/or windows, but many just DOORS!.
So a quick posting this week for Thursday Doors , showing one of my hundreds of pictures of Maltese doors.

Love the blue window it is a perfect accent to show off the rest of the photo.

Thank you. The blue ” Window” is actually a framed and glass covered religious shrine . After a week in Malta I think I’ll need to do a post on ” Maltese religious shrines outside every house” !

A wonderful shot! The weathered stone wall and that green door too 🙂

Thanks Norm. I reckon I’ve enough shots of Doors in Malta to keep me going until my next trip there.

Looking forward to your photos. I visited Malta in 2001 and was taken by its olde world beauty. All of my pictures are prints (pre-digital).

Thanks, Charles. It reminds me of places I used to visit as a backpacking student almost half a century ago. Most of these places have now been developed or gentrified or simply modernised. Ah, nostalgia.
Maybe you’ll visit Malta again on a cruise sometime?

Maybe. I’m going to pull out my photos to see what I have.

That would be really interesting. I did that with photos from trips to Thailand. I photographed them with my phone camera so now have digital records of trips. I would love to see your Maltese ones.

Scanned three pictures. What is the best way to show you?

splendid. the row of plants, the blue window (or is it a religious shrine embedded into the wall?), just add to the deep green and wooden doors.

Thanks, Doug. Yes it’s a religious shrine. Malta is a very traditional Roman Catholic country and many, if not most, of the houses have something religious on the wall near their door.( not always a big one in a glass box like this though) It is a fascinating country to visit.

Someday, if I ever make it back to the Mediterranean, i’ll definitely have to visit.
Elusive Trope · 13 May 2016 at 21:11
hope to see more photos from your time there.

Hey, Doug, be careful what you wish for! I’ve just downloaded 1400 -plus images from my camera memory cards and have another few hundred on iPhone.
