My Blogging name is PHOTOPHILE.

The  definition of PHOTOPHILE in Merriam-Webster’s Medical Dictionary is:

thriving in full light,  requiring abundant light

Whilst I like that, I think I favour the definition in The Urban Dictionary :

A PHOTOPHILE is a person who loves photography. They carry a camera on their shoulder wherever they go and post to photo-sharing websites all  day.

Named after the  biological term for an organism that loves light, or functions best in it.

Yip, that’s me.

I love being out and about and using my camera (or iPhone ) to document what I see.

Another quote I love is this one from Ansel Adams:

A good photograph is knowing where to stand.

Having visited an exhibition of Ansel Adams’ work in London a few years ago, I recognise that there is a lot more to his photography than that, but I take encouragement from his words. He was a master of his art, like no other.

Of course luck favours the prepared…… be in the right place at the right time, you have to be in the right place.

This website shows some of my attempts to stand in that elusive “right place”.

For me the joy of photography is searching for that place and knowing the fun I’m going to have while I’m looking.

My blog documents this quest.

I hope you enjoy your visit to my site.
