The words of this great American photographer often come to mind when I am indulging my passion for macro photography.

The other day I was in the garden, admiring a clump of lupins from the comfort of my sun-lounger:

Having taken a picture of them without stirring from where I sat (lay), I reckoned they were worth getting up for a closer look:

And since the macro lens was already on the camera, an even closer look into their colour and form:

There’s more to lupins than immediately meets the eye!
