Cee’s Black & White Challenge: Letters “I” and “J”

At the beginning of this week we had a wonderful couple of days in Borrowdale in the Lake District.

For the first trip of 2017 the weather was glorious; warm and sunny and perfect for walking.

The light on Tuesday morning was amazing, with bright sunshine all around us but with haze partially covering the fells on the other side of Derwentwater.

I’ve come back with lots (hundreds) of photographs on both memory card and on iPhone.

For the letter ‘I” of this challenge, I have reworked the colour image from yesterday’s post “Island in the Sun”:

And for “J” I’ve chosen the Jetty at High Brandelhowe.

The Keswick Launch Company run a Hop-on Hop-off  service around Derwentwater, much used by walkers . (Or you can Get-on and Stay-on if you just fancy cruising on this beautiful stretch of water.

The boats run about every half hour and stop at eight jetties.

And now back to work on some more colour images from the trip and maybe a few monochrome too.

Where is this located, Helen? The pictures are stunning. Was it kind of a foggy day? I love color, but sometimes nothing does it like B & W.

    Hi Marsha,
Im catching up with blog now that I’m back from Zen retreat. This was Derwentwater, one of the Lakes in The English Lake District in NW England. It’s just over an hours drive from us.
The light was the kind of light I’ve only ever seen on other peoples’ photos before: early morning with the sun shining on things close to us whilst the hills were still shrouded in morning mist. The kind of sight you wait a lifetime to see. Going back week after next, so fingers crossed !

Hi Helen, I like that little island. Terrific photos this week 😀

The island almost looks like a Chinese painting.
