On Gossamer Wings.
There are many poems and songs featuring the phrase “on gossamer wings”. (I know this because I googled! It wasn’t only Cole Porter who used it!).
But there is nothing like seeing the real thing close up. I spent a while one day last week watching this tiny, beautiful Common Blue butterfly. It was magical way to spend time.

What an honour to see something so beautiful Helen. This year I’ve had four varieties visit the garden, but not a blue one. Fabulous picture and macro 🙂

Yes, I feel privileged to be allowed to get so close to them and watch them.

That blue beauty common? I don’t think so. 😉 Wish we had them in Maine.

Common Blue butterflies are the most common of all the varieties of blue we have in UK. But they’re not widely known. They only frequent very specific locations with the right kind of plants for them. They are my favourites

They would be mine, too.
