Empty Chairs in the Royal Palace.

The Royal Palace of La Almudaina in Palma.

Originally built as an Arab fortress, the palace became the official  residence of the Mallorcan Royal Family at the beginning of the 14th Century under the reign of King Jaume II.

Nowadays, during the annual summer holidays of the Spanish Royal Family on Mallorca the Almudaina palace is the official office of King Juan Carlos I, being used for ceremonies and state functions.

But as the royal family weren’t around when we visited, there were plenty of EMPTY CHAIRS!
