My image this week for Norm’s Thursday Doors was taken in Chinatown in Manchester.
Handkerchief Manufacturer….
…… A & H Reich Cotton Goods. A faded cotton merchants’ sign from a bygone age when Manchester was known as Cottonopolis, the Cotton Capital of the world.

What a wonderful shot! The B&W really allows the details and textures to be the hero of the shot. Fascinating back story as well 🙂

Manchester was the cotton capitol of the world? Huh. I’d never heard that. I love the things I learn through peaking at doors!

I’m sure it’s nice in color too but I love the B&W treatment on this one. Well done 🙂

Thanks, Norm. Although I did this in monochrome, the actual colour wasn’t far removed from this.
