Butterfly Hunting

Trip to Warton Crag, taking in Leighton Moss and Myers Allotment en route. At Myers Allotment there were literally hundreds of Meadow Brown flying low, almost hugging the ground and scores of Whites fluttering above the taller vegetation.  No Fritillaries in evidence but saw a Broad-bodied Chaser.                                                                                                                                              Perfect summer’s Read more…

Garstang

Pleasant walk in Garstang this morning. Bought some of the famous Garstang Blue cheese….delicious. By 11 o’clock it was getting too hot to walk.  Saw a few butterflies. Was experimenting with 100-400L lens, rather than macro, to see what the depth of field was like. Further experimentation needed.   There Read more…

Brockholes

Circular walk round Brockholes Lancashire Wildlife Trust Reserve. Dozens of Common Blue butterflies on the wild flowers at the water’s edge. They didn’t pose for long.
