Blue Skies and Sunshine…..

……..for a few short hours on Saturday in the Lake District.

Now that we are well into autumn we jump at every opportunity to get out on a sunny day.

We are so lucky to have the Lake District about a one-hour drive away. (It used to be just under an hour’s drive, but I got caught for speeding a few weeks ago. After taking a Speed Awareness course as an alternative to points on my licence, I am really trying to stay within limits. Most trips take just a little longer now).

Not that I would ever have wanted to zoom around on the fairly narrow roads in the Lake District. The scenery is there to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace, preferably on foot.

We drove to Ambleside and went for a stroll along the shores of Lake Windermere.

These pictures were taken with my iPhone and edited using Snapseed app.

I hope you enjoy this short slideshow:

Roll on the next sunny day!

Here’s hoping we don’t have to wait too long!

I really enjoyed the pictures; the colours and the landscapes are great. For me, just as for Xenia, it brings back happy memories. I must have been 18 or so, when we (the family) went to stay a fortnight at Penrith. Of course we also visited Windermere and I still cherish a touristic calendar that I got there. Wasn’t there a boat crossing the lake? If I remember it correctly, the four of us took this tour.

Yes, these boats are still running. Probably the exact same ones.

A fabulous set of images Helen and very nicely presented. We do love it up there as well and just love how they have developed many accessible routes around a theme ‘Miles without Stiles’ 🙂

I must google Miles without Stiles as they are getting higher as I shrink into old age. Thanks for your encouraging comments. Have a good week.

I consider myself well travelled but I have never been to the Lake District, or anywhere near it! I really hope I get there one day, your photos are great! And I love the Snapseed editing app too….

I’m sure you’ll get up to the Lakes some day. (Do try to avoid peak tourist times, though) . Isn’t Snapseed great! Thanks for visiting my blog,
